Travel to warm places (on Facebook) with the Livingston County Library

From now through 22 send the Livingston County Library your favorite travel picture with a brief description; be sure to include the name of the place you visited as well as your name. Staff will post these travel logs on the library’s Facebook page for all to see. From Jan. 24-29 patrons can vote on the place we would like most to visit based on the submissions. There will be a small prize for the patron who submits the winning travel log. Submissions should be emailed to Jon@livingstoncountylibrary.org.

Health Center reports presence of Omicron in wastewater

According to a post on social media on Monday, the Livingston County Health Center said the Omicron variant has been detected in Livingston County’s wastewater. The post reads: “The Sewershed Surveillance Project is a collaborative effort between Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the University of Missouri (MU).

Contract awarded to build the Little Otter Creek Reservoir

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri and County Commissioners of Caldwell County, announced on Dec. 7, an award of a $14,400,486.75 contract to Phillips Hardy, Incorporated of Booneville, to construct the Little Otter Creek Reservoir. The contract award was made through a competitive bid process following years of planning and preparation. Under the contract, a 345-acre reservoir will supply 1.24 million gallons of raw drinking water per day, reduce flooding along Little Otter Creek, and provide recreation for area residents and visitors.

Elks Auxiliary donate to Bright Futures Chillicothe

The Chillicothe Elk’s Women’s Auxiliary and Sherry Weldon recently donated to the CMS Cares Closet. The Auxiliary donated $300 dollars to the project and Weldon donated bags of needed hygiene items. The Cares Closet is a project of Bright Futures Chillicothe. The Chillicothe High School needs donations of hygiene items for its CHS Cares Closet. Items that are an immediate need are feminine hygiene items, tooth brushes, and tooth paste. If you are interested in donating please contact Mrs. Tipton or Mrs. Marsh at 660-646-0700
