WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

Women’s History Month is a monthlong celebration throughout March to commemorate the often-overlooked accomplishments of women throughout history. Throughout the month, we give our attention to the women in our lives and look back on the obstacles they’ve overcome. When you think about this holiday, some famous women from history might come to mind. For instance, consider Rosa Parks, Abigail Adams, Sojourner Truth, and Marie Curie–all remarkable women who defied the odds and helped advance the Women’s Rights Movement.

LOCKERS

When we walk down the hallways, we pass one of the noteworthy essentials of school; before Covid-19, lockers were utilized every day. If there were a high school movie in the 2000s, there would be a locker gossip scene. The usual place to keep your books or have frequent conversations has seen decreased use in the general student body. I asked the CHS student body about the outdated lockers to see if I wasn’t the only student who neglected this rectangle of storage.

NATURAL CLEANING PRODUCTS

Many homeowners throughout the world use cleaning products that aren’t necessarily natural or safe to use every single day. Toxins and harmful chemicals are released into the products potentially causing harm to the environment and to humans if you do not take precaution after handling them. Recently, it has become more prominent to switch from brands such as Clorox and Lysol to Puracy, Mrs. Meyer’s, and Eco’s. After my family and I made a change in our products, our house feels comfortable and we all noticed changes in our living space.

TIKTOK FAMOUS

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know what Tiktok is. TikTok is a worldwide streaming app that allows you to make small video clips and watch others’ videos. It has over 3.5 billion downloads and 2.5 million daily active users. I polled CHS students, and over 85% of students said they use the app frequently. TikTok is obviously a popular pastime for many teenagers.

ARE YOU SURE?

I once took a Mandela Effect quiz and was surprised at how many of the questions I missed, but I was unaware of the science behind it; I then spent some time researching the topic and found that in short, The Mandela Effect is a mass of people who have the same false memory. While the Mandela Effect has some interesting science behind it, it is often also a fun game people play to test their memory. The entertaining aspect of the Mandela Effect inspired me to let my fellow CHS students and a couple of CHS teachers indulge in this game and sent them a Mandela Effect quiz to test their memory.

WANT TO GO TO PROM?

A PromPosal is a funny or clever way to ask someone to prom. I have recently noticed that our school has not been doing PromPosals as much as in the past. Students usually talk to their classmates at lunch or in class about who they plan to go to Prom with, but there have been few PromPosals even though approximately 80% of juniors and seniors attend Prom.

DISABILITY AWARENESS

All around the world are billions of people, all unique in their way, and countless people who have at least one disability. However, many see having a disability as a negative trait, but it truly is far from that.
