Chillicothe High School held its annual “Jam the Gym” night as it hosted St. Joseph: Benton’s basketball teams last Friday (Feb. 3). A variety of now-traditional post-games and halftime activities organized by the CHS Leadership Class organization, including a 3-points shooting contest, dunking contests, the paper-airplane “Flight for Cash,” special co-ed dance performance by the Stingettes dance team, drawings for several donated gifts, and a 50-50 cash drawing, took place. Benefitting from the monies raised by the participation- charge activities (drawings, “Flight for Cash”) was the local Verelle Peniston State School.
University of Missouri Extension is taking applications from veterans for the third year of the Missouri Heroes to Hives program. The free program trains veterans in beekeeping while also addressing their mental and physical wellness, said MU Extension agronomist Travis Harper.

As part of ongoing efforts to address the opioid misuse epidemic locally, Livingston County Health Center has announced the availability of Narcan (naloxone) kits at their office, located at 800 Adam Drive. The Health Center is participating in a grant through the Missouri Institute of Mental Health at University of Missouri-St.

On Sunday, February 12, five Chillicothe Eagle Scout candidates from Troop 120 will receive their highest rank in Scouting on Scout Sunday. This ceremony will be held at the United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m.
The 16th Annual Polar Plunge will take place at 1 p.m., on February 11, in Simpson Park. Brave men and women from around the area will don disco-themed costumes and swimwear and take “polar” dips into freezing water.
