Ten $1,000 scholarships now open to Midwest high school seniors
High school seniors from Missouri and five other states now have a chance to receive one of 10 college scholarships worth $1,000. Registration is open now through April 28, 2023. Parents are also now able to register their student.
December 2022 monthly Jobs Report
Missouri non-farm payroll employment decreased by 5,000 jobs from November 2022 to December 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a percentage point. Private industry employment decreased by 5,300 jobs and government employment increased by 300 jobs. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8% in December 2022, an increase of one-tenth of a percentage point from 2.7% in November 2022. Over the year, there was an increase of 47,600 jobs from December 2021 to December 2022, and the unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 percentage points, from 3.9% in December 2021 to 2.8% in December 2022.

Betty Preston Steele recently retired from her position as a member of the Hedrick Medical Center Board of Directors. She had been a member of the Hedrick board for 11 years, serving the past five years as board chairperson. Additionally, she has been a member of the Saint Luke’s Health System Board of Directors since 2015.
