CHILLIARTS OPRY TO HOST THREE CONCERTS The Chillicothe Area Arts Council is hosting something new — a County Music Opry, presenting “Classic Country”. Arts Administrator, Mary Lou VanDeventer, hand-picked the band and vocals from musicians and singers from the area who have a passion for country music and the performing arts and are excited to share their time and talents.

Teacher of the Year, Beacon winners announced

Numerous Chillicothe R-II Staff members were honored today January 3 for their years of service, for excellence in the District, and as recipients of a Department of Elementary and Secondary--sponsored scholarship during the annual service and awards program held at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center. The event kicked off a day of professional development for teachers and staff members.

CES expansion underway

It’s been eight months since voters approved a no-tax levy increase for the expansion of the Chillicothe Elementary School, and District officials are excited to report that dirt work has begun. Superintendent Dr. Dan Wiebers reports that Lawhon Construction, the District’s General Contractor for the project, has been on site, preparing for future construction.

Medicaid eligibility annual renewals to resume April 1 with federal legislation signed into law

The federal government has announced that states will be required to resume annual renewals for MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) beginning April 1, 2023. Annual renewals have not been required since January 2020, which is when the Federal Public Health Emergency was put in place in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The federal legislation signed into law yesterday set a specific date to resume renewals, despite the ongoing Federal Public Health Emergency.
