Grant will expand existing port terminal at AGRIServices of Brunswick

In October, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced more than $703 million to fund 41 projects in 22 states that will improve port facilities through the Maritime Administration’s Port Infrastructure Development Program. The funding made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Missouri was awarded a grant totaling $8,768,800 for a Port Improvement and Expansion Project in Brunswick, Missouri. Green Hills Regional Planning Commission will be the Public Sponsor on this Port Improvement and Expansion Project for AGRIServices of Brunswick, LLC. The Project will upgrade an existing port terminal with a new container dock and related mooring structures, add a new rail spur with a loading pit, and construct a new bulk agricultural supply building with conveyors between the rail and barge dock. The new sheet pile barge dock will provide 200 ft. of frontage for loading and unloading barges. The rail improvement consists of approximately 4,000 ft. of new track that will permit the port to work 36 car unit trains. The 360 ft. by 140 ft. bulk agricultural storage building will replace an existing 40-yearold building and offer enough capacity to manage peak periods of agricultural commodity movements.

In-depth Soil Fertility School offered

An upcoming indepth soil fertility school from University of Missouri Extension for row crop and forage producers will address all aspects of soil fertility topics. The program will cover topics of soils and soil characteristics; soils supplying nutrients and CEC; soil pH and liming; nitrogen processes, products, and management; phosphorus and efficiency; potassium; secondary and micronutrients, starters and other placement methods along with foliar; understanding soil test information and testing procedures, tissue testing and precision nutrient management and nutrient deficiency symptoms.
