Numerous Priority Bills Pass in the Final Hours of the 2025 Session

Unlike the previous three sessions, the Missouri Legislature worked steadfastly and found common ground on numerous issues throughout the session. Over the last 19 weeks the House and Senate worked to pass a $52.8 billion state operating budget, 67 bills, and successfully confirmed numerous cabinet positions for recently elected Governor Mike Kehoe (R).

Main Street Chillicothe Maintains Main Street Accredited Status for 2025

BRANSON — Main Street Chillicothe is one of nine Main Street organizations across the state to maintain its national and state accreditation. Recently, Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) announced that Old Town Cape, Inc., Main Street Chillicothe, Downtown Excelsior Partnership, Independence Square Association, Downtown Joplin Alliance, Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, Historic Downtown Liberty, Inc., Warrensburg Main Street, and Downtown Washington, Inc. exceeded the six National Accreditation Standards thus maintaining their national and state accreditation following annual assessments in January and February.

Jerry Litton Inducted into the Chillicothe Hall of Fame

The Livingston County Preservation Society (LCPS) held a short ceremony on May 9 at the Home of Sliced Bread Welcome Center to unveil a commemoration piece celebrating the life and accomplishments of Representative Jerry Litton. Jim Summerville and Litton’s nieces and nephews, Laura Lee Summerville Gayfield, Ginger R. Summerville, and James Eric Summerville, sponsored the exhibit piece. LCPS President Kirsten Mouton said a few words about the organization and the Chillicothe Hall of Fame. Rodney Mouton spoke on the program’s origins.
