On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced its intent to extend the REAL ID full enforcement date by 24 months, from May 3, 2023 to May 7, 2025. Under the new regulations published to execute this change, states will now have additional time to ensure their residents have driver’s licenses and identification cards that meet the security standards established by the REAL ID Act.
State Budget Director Dan Haug recently announced that net general revenue collections for November 2022 grew 4.8 percent compared to those for November 2021, from $965.5 million last year to $1.01 billion this year.
Shane Allen Ware, 48, Marceline, was arrested Nov. 8 and has since been charged with 35 sex crimes against children. The Linn County Leader originally reported Ware had only been charged with 20 counts.

The Chillicothe High School basketball Hornets and Lady Hornets will have their home openers against Trenton on Friday. The varsity doubleheader will begin with girls’ play at 6 p.m.
