The Importance of Election Day

On the second Tuesday of November voters around the country make their way to the booths throughout the day. There they make decisions that directly impact the future of our country, their respective state, and their local communities. Though most students at CHS are not yet old enough to vote, it is never too early to stay informed and be prepared. The issues and people on the ballot will affect the lives of each student in the long run. By taking initiative to get ahead of the madness, students will be one step closer to fulfilling their own civic duty.

Smith inducted into Chillicothe Hall of Fame

Claude T. Smith, composer, musician, and teacher at Chillicothe High School from 1966-1976, was inducted into the Chillicothe Hall of Fame on Wednesday, November 9 at the Chillicothe High School Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center. Rodney Mouton, Vice-President of the Livingston County Preservation Society (LCPS), introduced the audience to the past inductees and general ideals of the Hall of Fame. Pam Smith Kelly joined Mouton on stage and together they unveiled the new exhibit piece. She then shared some wonderful stories about her father, Claude T. Smith.

Pastor’s Pen: Thinking Thankful

Paul exhorts us in his letter to the Thesthe salonians, “give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” The only word most of us have trouble with is “everything!” So, it should cause us to think differently. It should cause us to think thankfully. The first question I can ask is “in this situation, what is it that I am thankful for?”

Artemisia Gentileschi’s 1616 nude to be digitally unveiled

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Art restorers in Italian city of Florence have begun a sixmonth project to clean and virtually “unveil” a long-censored nude painting by Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the most prominent women in the history of Italian art. Swirling veils and drapery were added to the “Allegory of Inclination” some 70 years after Gentileschi painted the life-size female nude, believed to be a self-portrait, in 1616.
