The True Blue Club met Nov. 10 at a Chillicothe restaurant for their last meeting of the year. Secret Sisters were revealed for 2022, and new names were drawn for 2023. Cards were sent to Danny McIntyre, Garry Palmer, and David Long. All members were present: Dorothy Crookshanks, Janet Meek, Eudora Fitzpatrick, and Cheryl Maggart to enjoy the meal and gifts exchanged.

Sheriff issues scam notice

Earlier this week Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox released the following statement about a scam reported by several Livingston County residents. “We have received calls today regarding citizens being contacted on a somewhat unusual type of scam claiming to be a person in law enforcement and having removed their loved one from a nursing home.

Holiday train to stop in Chillicothe

The City of Chillicothe announced earlier this week that the CP Holiday Train will me making a stop in Chillicothe this year. The event is planned for Sunday Dec. 4, at the East end of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Center parking lot. The train is to arrive at approximately 2:45 p.m., with the event scheduled to start at 3 p.m. There will be a collection of canned and dry goods for the House of Prayer. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Pastor’s Pen: Attitude of Gratitude

Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, “You need to have an attitude of gratitude.” But, what does that really mean? And do you have one? I personally think it is important and think this is the right time of year to think about it. I love fall. The fresh air, the cooler temperatures, and the crisper feel outside. A Day to Honor Service

Banks and government offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, and the post office won’t deliver mail. Most schools will be open, but several have special events scheduled. As much as I would like to assume everyone will immediately recognize that date as Veterans Day, I know that’s probably not the case, and that concerns me.

Hawkins Accepted into International High School Honor Band

Shayden Hawkins, a senior bari saxophone player from Chillicothe High School, has been accepted into an international high school honor band at the Western International Band Clinic (WIBC), which will be held in Seattle,Washington Nov. 18-21, 2022. Students from all over the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia submit recorded auditions which are judged by music education specialists and ranked according to precision, tone and musicality. The competition for acceptance into the Western International Band Clinic honor bands is extremely high, with thousands of applicants auditioning. The Western International Band Clinic is an opportunity for music students and band directors to learn from the finest composers, conductors and musicians in the world.
