Lady Hornets Thwart Determined Lawson, Reach Title Game

Having seen enough of this season’s Lawson Lady Cardinals basketball team during their recent visit to Chillicothe and having coached against LHS coach Lisa Glenn numerous times during his 7-plus seasons as head coach of CHS’ Lady Hornets, Darren Smith had not a whit of surprise to find Lawson well-prepared mentally and welldeployed physically in an effort to score a big upset when the teams matched up for a second time in 10 days in last Thursday’s championship semifinals of the Lawson Invitational tournament.

Polo Girls Take Osborn Tourney Crown Again

As expected, Polo High School Lady Panthers and Winston’s Redbirds repeated as champions of the Osborn Invitational Tournament last week, just a night earlier than expected. The tourney’s finals advanced from Friday to Thursday, due to travel concerns from Friday’s approaching snowstorm, the PHS girls cruised past DeKalb 55-28 and Winston dispatched Polo’s boys 67-40.

Wrestling Hornets have lackluster split in Tuesday road double-dual: Started fast against Richmond, then lost last five contested bouts

RICHMOND — Tuesday night didn’t see one of the better performances by the Chillicothe High School wrestling Hornets. Even though their “top gun,” highly-stateranked Brock Miller won twice more while dropping down to the 182-pounds division from 195, CHS captured only five other contested bouts as they split dual matches with host Richmond and Carrollton.
