CHS Volleyballers Make Program History During Lawson Tourney

After two decades of trying, Chillicothe High School’s volleyball Lady Hornets have produced back-to-back winning seasons.Even as they played out the last of their regular-season matches this week, the 2023 CHS spikers were assured of finishing with a record above .500 after winning two of three matches in last Saturday’s Lawson Spikefest tournament.When, following a hard-fought loss to Maryville in the opening round, the Lady Hornets turned back Higginsville (Lafayette County) in five games, it gave them a 14-7 record with only four more regular-season matches remaining.

Taking a break from their perfect dual-matches performance thus far this season, Chillicothe High School’s golf Lady Hornets had a big week in tournament play – including their own annual get-together – last week.A week ago today, three medal-earning top-10 individual rounds helped CHS shade South Harrison by a single stroke for second place behind as-expected runaway champion Maryville in the Chillicothe Invitational tournament.That followed the Lady Hornets’ Class 1-2 division title in the 17-schools Smith-Cotton Classic hosted by Sedalia Sept.
