Macon, and the host school, four track-andfield athletes from small C-T-area schools stood tall – several times the tallest – in competitions during the March 28 Brookfield Open meet. Defending Class 1 state shot put champion Tucker Singer, a junior at Tina- Avalon High School, handily repeated as the meet’s winner in that event, sending the metal ball sailing 56’10” (17.32 meters), a new personal and school record. His closest competition was senior Glen Holt of Southwest Livingston, who reportedly broke the Wildcats’ school record with his opening toss of 49’3/4” (14.95m). Singer’s brother Tanner was third in the event, as well. Also posting event wins were Southwest Livingston junior Kendall Provolt, when she cleared 4’6” (1.37m) in the girls’ high jump, and, seen during the boys’ high jump, SLHS sophomore Kolt Neptune, who took the top spot not only that event at 5’3-3/4” (1.62m), but also the 300-meters low hurdles in 45.92 seconds. Neptune also was second in the 110-meters high hurdles in 18.64 seconds. (PAUL STURM/C-T PHOTOS)
