CHS Baseball, Girls’ Soccer Teams Got Some Action In Last Week

Although out-numbered by postponements, Chillicothe High School’s spring sports season did get a few events completed last week – the baseball Hornets’ 10-0 5-innings loss of their debut at Lawson on a rare sunny day March 20, the home track-and-field meet that got pushed back a day to last Wednesday by the weather (see detailed story and photos on page B1), and the soccer Lady Hornets’ two matches in last Saturday’s Chris Hotop Invitational tournament at Mexico. On the opposite side of last week’s schedule balance sheet, though, were baseball, boys’ golf, and boys’ tennis postponements on March 21 and baseball against Trenton last Thursday, in addition to the 1-day track meet delay.

Weather-Delayed CHS Spring Sports Season Now Underway

With three of the six teams having new head coaches in place, Chillicothe High School’s 2023 spring sports season finally got off to a weather-induced belated start yesterday. Action was to have begun late last week with the soccer Lady Hornets hosting what would have been their inaugural invitational tournament and baseball making a trip to Savannah, but Mother Nature nixed those plans, pushing all six teams’ starts back to this week, when the weather looks likely to be generally more cooperative.
