Holiday High School Basketball Events Get Started

Two holiday-period high school basketball “shootout” events with area ties and involvement – one in its second decade of existence and the other its second year – are at hand for 2022, one beginning today. The North Central Missouri College Foundation’s “High School Holiday Hoops” event tips off the first of its 10 days of competition at Trenton today with seven games, beginning at 10 a.m.

Saucy Cranmer Featured Dish in CHS Girls Feast

Like a festive holiday gathering, Chillicothe High School’s basketball Lady Hornets celebrated their first chance to play at home this season by featuring a big dish of Cranmer-ry sauce last Friday. After a disfunctional first four minutes in their contest with neighboring Trenton, the Lady Hornets began serving the Lady Bulldogs some junior Kayanna Cranmer, then heaped on second and third helpings until the guard/forward had dished out a career night of 21 points – highlighted by a perfect 9-for-9 night at the free-throw line º and, unofficially, eight rebounds in a 61-20 rout.

Basketball Hornets Bully Bulldogs in Home Opener

What projected to be a home-opener mismatch for the host Chillicothe High School basketball Hornets last Friday proved to be every bit of that. Just as their female counterparts had in the preceding contest in CHS’ first of a limited number of home-floor appearances this season, the Hornets needed more than a couple of minutes and several possessions to score for the first time and fell behind.

Hale-Bosworth Boys Follow Last-Second Win With Fifth-Straight Triumph

Lady Cards win two in row; Southwest Livingston girls prevail again; Meadville girls cruise on After dropping their first two outings of the new high school basketball season, Hale/ Bosworth’s Cardinals began this week on a 5-games winning streak after following a last-seconds victory at Bevier last Thursday with a home win the next night. Gage Heussner’s bucket with four seconds remaining provided the winning points in a 68-67, come-frombehind triumph against Bevier before the Cardinals routinely handled Breckenridge by 24.
