Chillicothe High School’s track-and-field Hornets continued their strong early season last week, backing up their team title in their own Chillicothe Joe Shy Relays with another crown in the “Hoot” Middleton Relays at Richmond April 15.
It wasn’t the best of stretches for Chillicothe High Schools’ boys’ golf and tennis and girls’ soccer varsity teams from April 9-15, but it wasn’t without some success.
After being clubbed 12-0 in five innings by visiting Braymer Thursday, April 10, the Southwest Livingston/Tina-Avalon/Breckenridge baseball team nabbed a second victory of the season during its play in last weekend’s “white” division of the multi-divisions WOW Tournament in the St. Joseph area.
With the long-range forecast for reasonably-good weather (both for competitors and fans) for today’s Chillicothe Joe Shy Relays meet holding as the day approached, a highlight of the Chillicothe High School track-and-field season is due to take place this afternoon and early evening at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium II with the host Hornets seemingly poised to make a strong push to capture the boys’ division team title for the first time since 2018.

A stretch of three road games in a row provided the gamut of story lines, but all ended with the Southwest Livingston/Tina-Avalon/Breckenridge Wildcats cooperative team holding the short end of the stick.
