Corbin Rodenberg, running back and linebacker of our Chillicothe Hornets, has been invited to the All-American Pro Bowl in Dallas, Texas. This past summer athletes all over the country were evaluated to decide whether or not they would be invited to a private event. After the private event, there would be another evaluation and this one would be decided who would play in the All-American Bowl game. The game will be played on Dec. 12 and will be televised on ESPN.

Lady Hornets Links Duo to State Again

ST. JOSEPH — With skill, solid precision, and confidence, Chillicothe High School seniors Izzie Montgomery and Skyler Powers posted the requisite finishes in last Monday’s Class 2 District 4 girls’ golf tournament at the Moila Shrine Country Club to advance to this coming Monday’s and Tuesday’s state tournament at Bolivar.

Hornets Harriers Head Up Cameron Meet Standings

Chillicothe High School’s cross-country runners got a foretaste of this coming Tuesday’s Midland Empire Conference Championships course and apparently liked it this past Tuesday as they came very close to their fourth meet sweep of the season in the Cameron Invitational. As it was, the boys – with freshman Luke Thompson and sophomore Cain Evans again finishing 1-2 – did prevail and the girls – with five placing in the top 12 – were a very, very close second in the team standings.

CHS’ Tennis Trio Ended Week at State

Carpenter advanced in singles, Washburn-Garr in doubles SPRINGFIELD — Having punched their personal tickets in dominant fashion a week earlier and then last Monday having joined with their three other Lady Hornets to dramatically propel the entire squad to next week’s team state semifinals and finals, Chillicothe High School’s Cami Carpenter, Rylee Washburn and Izzy Garr made the first oif consecutive late-week trips to Springfield Thursday to play in the Missouri Class 1 girls’ tennis non-team state tournament Friday and, potentially, today. The trio earned that chance by posting 1-sided sectional- match triumphs over Excelsior Springs High opponents at Excelsior Springs last Friday.

CHS Cross-Country Runners Stay Strong

Chillicothe High School’s outstanding 2022 cross country running teams made another strong showing in last Saturday’s Kearney Invitational meet and the volleyball Lady Hornets barely missed on putting another Midland Empire Conference victory in the books last Thursday. CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING KEARNEY — Saturday, in the always- high-octane Kearney Invitational at Jesse James Park, the Chillicothe boys – led by individual ninthplace finisher Luke Thompson, took seventh among 24 teams, coach Jennifer Dickson reports.
