By contrast, visiting Kirksville turned a solid percentage of its legitimate chances into goals, securing a 4-1 non-conference victory over the slump-ridden Hornets at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium II.

Football Hornets Stun Defending MEC Champs, Leader on Road

KANSAS CITY — A Chillicothe High School football season begun with lofty projections and ambitions not quite a month before was teetering on the brink of possible collapse at its mid-point last Friday night. In the crucible, though, the Hornets zapped themselves with a defibrillator to revive their high goals and, in the process, shocked the previously-unbeaten, 2-times defending Midland Empire Conference champions on the foe’s field.
