CHS Tennis Handles THS Again, Volleyball Falls in Four Once More

Chillicothe High School’s tennis girls cemented having at least one home match in the quickly-approaching Class 1 District 15 team tournament last Thursday with a repeat 8-1 triumph over Trenton, this time on the road, while the volleyball Lady Hornets continued their very competitive showings that still mostly are resulting in match defeats. The CHS spikers lost in four tight games at St. Joseph: Lafayette – 20-25, 20-25, 26-24, 20-25.

Chillicothe Golf Girls First in Division at Sedalia Tourney

SEDALIA — Entering only four players, but getting medal- earning play from each, Chillicothe High School’s golf Lady Hornets brought home the small-schools division team-title plaque from last Monday’s Smith-Cotton Ladies’ Invitational tournament with a score of 401. Paced once more by senior 2021 state-tournament participant Skyler Powers and with each of the other three finishing in the top seven among smaller-schools’ entries, the Lady Hornets primed themselves for their own tournament Thursday by having everyone shoot a 104 or lower for the 18 holes.

CHS Softball Girls Rebuild Momentum with Romps

A pair of blowout, shutout victories at home early this week restored the winning vibe to the Chillicothe High School softball Lady Hornets prior to this weekend’s “September Slam” tournament games at Liberty. Following a loss at Savannah to wrap up the preceding week, the Lady Hornets blanked Lexington 12-0 and Maryville 10-0 in five innings each at Daryl Danner Memorial Park last Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
