All across Missouri Monday, including in Chillicothe, 2022 high school fall sports teams commenced their preparations for the approaching season. CHS’ cross country running and girls’ tennis teams initiated their campaigns with midnight sessions at Daryl Danner Memorial Park, while the football, girls’ golf, and volleyball squads had morning practices at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium II, Green Hills Golf Course, and the CHS gym, respectively. The soccer Hornets got going with an evening practice at Litton Stadium, while the softball Lady Hornets were at their Danner Park diamond for an evening debut. Wasting nary a minute to get their new seasons going, members of the Chillicothe High School cross country running teams and tennis Lady Hornets were at Daryl Danner Memorial Park when the midnight hour arrived Monday, conducting their first practices of the 2022 season on the first permissible day. About 16 prospective members of new head coach Sophie Chambers’ initial tennis squad were on hand, with about the same number of cross country running Hornets and Lady Hornets.
