New Look to Litton Stadium’s Bob Fairchild Field

With the original artificial turf at the Chillicothe R-2 School District’s Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium II having reached its 10-years “life expectancy” this summer, the district – as planned – had new turf installed during June and July, setting the field up for another decade of use as the home of the CHS football and soccer programs, as well as its use for other school and rental activities. As seen in these photographs, the end zones now have Hornets spelled out, the inlaid “inscription” of the field itself having been christened “Bob Fairchild Field” in honor of the late, legendary, long-time Hornets football coach has been enlarged and enhanced, and the football “bench” areas more clearly defined. The CHS football and boys’ soccer teams will begin preseason practices on the new turf a week from Monday. (PAUL STURM/C-T PHOTOS)
