Pujols, Alonso, Acuña, Soto in MLB Home Run Derby

ATLANTA (AP) — New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso will try to become the first player to win the All-Star Home Run Derby three consecutive times against a field that, barring injury or other issues, will include the St. Louis Cardinals’ Albert Pujols, Philadelphia slugger Kyle Schwarber, the world champion Atlanta Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr., Washington’s young star Juan Soto, Seattle rookie sensation Julio Rodriguez, and Cleveland slugging third baseman Jose Ramirez.

Ohtani a 2-way All-Star again

NEW YORK (AP) — In a city of stars, the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw will be in the spotlight July 19 at Dodger Stadium. “I think it’s been a couple of years since I got to compete in an All-Star Game, and something about Dodger Stadium, too, is special,” Kershaw said after pitchers and reserves were announced Sunday.

Benintendi Royals’ American League All-Star

KANSAS CITY.— Kansas City Royals left fielder Andrew Benintendi has been named to his first All-Star Game as a reserve, Major League Baseball announced Sunday. Barring subsequent replacements required by circumstances developing this week, Benintendi will be the Royals’ only representative at the 92nd All-Star Game, to be played next Tuesday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
