The Chillicothe Board of Public Works held a meeting July 7. One of the items on the agenda was a review of the Stifl Engagement Letter. This outlined a nonbinding provision of financial advisory services. It is a preliminary document and the services can be terminated at any time, which is a step forward in the board’s efforts to secure professional guidance for future fiscal planning.
The second item for review was the PWSD No. 2 Water Service Termination Agreement. Under this, the water district agrees that will shut off a customer’s water in the case they do not pay their sewer bill sent from CMU. This links the PWSD and CMU to ensure timely payments from customers. It is common that the customers don’t pay their sewer bill. Since it is impossible to dig up a customer’s sewer system and there is nothing to shut off, this allows there to be an agreement that forces a hand on the customer to pay up.
After addressing these concerns, the Board entered executive session but no votes were taken.
Through these actions, the Chillicothe Board continues to fine tune its financial oversight and utility management, reinforcing accountability within the community.
