Hale to Host Fundraising Soup Supper Tomorrow

The Hale Lions Club is inviting the community to their annual soup supper Feb. 22 at the Hale Community Hall from 5-7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a meal for a free will donation with all proceeds going toward the entertainment for the annual community Fourth of July celebration.

Farm Bureau Presents: Beef: From Pasture to Plate @ Lillian DesMarias Library

The Lillian DesMarias Youth Library is excited to announce a program given by the Farm Bureau titled “Beef: From Pasture to Plate,” from 5:30-6:30 p.m., on Feb. 24. Chilldren aged 5-11 are invited to learn the process from moo to jerky.

Grand River Area YMCA to Host Board of Governor’s Meeting Feb. 25

The Grand River Area Family YMCA has announced its Annual Board of Governors Meeting, scheduled for Feb. 25, 2025, at noon. The meeting will be held at the YMCA’s main location at 1725 Locust Street in Chillicothe

Open to all YMCA members, this annual event provides an opportunity to reflect on the organization’s achievements and challenges over the past year. Attendees will also gain insight into plans and initiatives for 2025 as the YMCA continues its mission to serve the community.

The meeting will address key developments from the three associated YMCA locations, highlighting programs, community outreach efforts, and upcoming goals. All members are encouraged to attend and participate in shaping the future of the YMCA in the region.

Chamber to Host Connections Event Feb. 28

The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off 2025 with its first Chamber Connections event of the year on Fri., Feb. 28 at the Lillian DesMarias Youth Library in Chillicothe. The networking event will run from 7:30-9 a.m. and is open to everyone. Attendees can come and go as they please, making it an easy way to connect with other professionals, potential clients, and business mentors in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The event will feature a variety of refreshments, including five charcuterie-style stations spread throughout the library. In addition to networking, attendees can take part in a unique five-card stud poker game designed to add an extra layer of fun. Guests will receive cards at check-in, swap or draw at designated stations, and have a chance to win a prize at the end.

Local businesses are encouraged to bring their business cards and promotional materials to share with attendees, as the Chamber will include their information in its weekly newsletter. The goal is to create new connections, strengthen professional relationships, and help businesses expand their reach within the community.

41st Tina-Avalon Country Music Show to be Held March 7-8

The 41st Tina-Avalon Country Music Show is set to entertain audiences with two performances on March 7 – 8. The event will take place at the Tina-Avalon School on Highway 65, with the first show scheduled for Friday evening at 7 p.m. and the second on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.

This annual music show features performances by local vocalists and musicians, showcasing the talent within the community. Both shows will offer the same lineup, giving attendees the flexibility to enjoy the event on their preferred days or both.

The event operates on a free-will donation basis, with all proceeds supporting community initiatives. A concession stand will also be available.

Meadville Lions Club to Host Annual Fish Fry

The Meadville Lions Club is inviting the community to its annual Fish Fry on Sat., March 22, 2025, at the Meadville Community Center. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. and will operate on a free-will donation basis.

Guests can enjoy a hearty meal featuring fried fish, hush puppies, cheese potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, and dessert. The evening will conclude with the club’s yearly raffle drawing, giving participants the chance to win prizes while supporting a good cause.

Champagne & Diamonds Fundraiser Set for April 12 in Chillicothe

The North Central Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center is hosting its annual Champagne & Diamonds fundraiser on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. This event aims to support the center’s mission of assisting children and families in need while providing attendees with an elegant evening of entertainment.

Guests can purchase individual tickets for $30, couples tickets for $50, or opt for sponsorship packages ranging from $250 to $500. Sponsorship levels include VIP tables, multiple tickets, and added perks such as champagne. All sponsorships come with published acknowledgments in event materials.

Champagne & Diamonds is a 21-and-over event, offering attendees an opportunity to enjoy a night out while contributing to a crucial local cause. Proceeds will help the advocacy center’s efforts in providing essential services to children who have experienced abuse or trauma.

Chamber & GRTS Team Up for Career Fair Set for April

The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce and Grand River Technical School are teaming up to host the 2025 Career Connections: Job & Resource Fair. Scheduled for April 24, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., at the Jenkins Expo Center in Chillicothe.

The fair is open to all job seekers and students interested in connecting with local and regional employers. Designed to link talent with opportunity, the event offers attendees immediate access to hiring prospects, career exploration, and the chance to build long-term professional connections. Employers from various industries will be on-site to network, recruit talent, and share insights about workforce opportunities.

FosterAdopt Connect to Host Softball Tourney

The Sliding Home Softball Tournament is set to bring excitement and camaraderie to Chillicothe this spring. Organized by FosterAdopt Connect Chillicothe, the co-ed softball event will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, starting at 9 a.m. at Danner Park, located at 1798 Litton Road in Chillicothe.
