Celebrate the Holidays with “Holiday Harmonies” in Chillicothe

The Chillicothe Area Arts Council invites the community to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of festive music and entertainment with “Holiday Harmonies,” featuring Central Standard and Vocal Standard, as well as chapter quartets. The event will take place on Dec. 7, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center, located at 2800 Hornet Drive in Chillicothe.

The afternoon promises an incredible showcase of vocal talent and holiday cheer, making it a perfect way to kick off the season. Central Standard and Vocal Standard, known for their stunning harmonies and engaging performances, will deliver a lineup of festive favorites sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Quilt Raffle to Benefit Marching Hornets

The Chillicothe Marching Hornets Band is hosting a quilt raffle to support its members as they raise funds for an upcoming trip to Disney’s “Where Dreams Do Come True.” Kelly Jones, of Cuts and Bolts Fabric Store, donated a quilt to be raffled off as part of this fundraiser.

Raffle tickets are available for $1 each, with all proceeds directly benefiting the band members. The winner of the quilt will be announced in February during the “Meet the Hornets” night. Every band member has been tasked with raising $1,900, and the quilt raffle is one way to help them meet this goal.

Community members interested in purchasing tickets or making a donation are encouraged to contact Colton Sullivan, Sarah Cavanah, or any band member. This fundraiser is a meaningful way to help support the Hornet band students as they prepare for their exciting Disney experience during Thanksgiving 2025.

Holiday Marketplace Open for Holiday Shopping

Santa’s Elves have visited Cultural Corner and filled the gallery with gifts galore. The third annual Holiday Marketplace is happening now through Christmas and features artisan-made holiday decor and gift items.

There’s everything from repurposed and handmade live-edge furniture from Electic Love Repurposed to earrings and ornaments crafted by Cultural Corner Ceramics. Coloring and story books produced by local artists, as well as, painting projects are available for the kids. Chiefs and holiday t-shirts, beautiful wreaths, handmade cards and money holders, gorgeous woven items, and so much more is available, with prices beginning at only $1.

Kids Christmas Event to be Held at LivCo Courthouse

Main Street Chillicothe is excited to announce the upcoming Kids Christmas event at the Livingston County Courthouse in Chillicothe, where children are invited to participate in a festive shopping experience.

On Dec. 6 from 4-6 p.m. kids ages 4 to 14 will have the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for their loved ones. Helper elves will be on-site to assist young shoppers, while local downtown merchants will offer specially-priced gifts for under $15.

In addition to shopping, children can create Christmas cards while their purchases are wrapped free of charge, making for a memorable experience.

Breakfast with Santa in Chula Dec. 8

Want to dine with the big guy from the North Pole? The Chula Community Center is hosting a Breakfast with Santa event on Dec. 8 from 8:30-11 a.m. Pictures with Santa are available from 9-10:30 a.m. and individuals or families are invited to whisper to Santa what’s on the holiday wish list and to also take photos. Breakfast will consist of biscuits and gravy along with multiple breakfast casseroles. A free-will donation will be collected during the Sunday event with proceeds going to the Chula Community Center. Church services will then follow at 11 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend. The event is held at the Chula Community Center at 625 Mansur Street in Chula.

Livingston County Library Hosts Teacup Gnome Craft Program

The Livingston County Library is bringing holiday magic to the community with its upcoming Teacup Gnome Craft Program, scheduled for Dec. 10. This festive event offers two crafting sessions, one at noon and another at 6 p.m., giving participants the chance to create their very own charming teacup gnome.

Holly Jolly Christmas Bus Brings Festive Fun for All

The Bosworth R-V School District is excited to announce the Holly Jolly Christmas Bus event, a magical evening of holiday cheer and entertainment, sponsored by the junior class. Set for Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5-7:30 p.m. this family-friendly experience promises an unforgettable start to the Christmas season.

The evening will kick off in the school cafeteria with a delicious dinner featuring pork tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a hot roll, and dessert upon return. After dinner, participants will board the Holly Jolly Christmas Express, a festively decorated bus. Guests will be greeted by a team of cheerful elves, who will provide lively entertainment, including jokes, Christmas karaoke, trivia, and fun games.

The bus will then travel to Carrollton for a tour of Christmas lights. Upon returning to the school, attendees will enjoy a cozy finish with cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate.

House of Prayer in Chillicothe Hosts Free Christmas Meal and Community Support Initiatives

The House of Prayer in Chillicothe is inviting the community to join them for a free Christmas meal Thursday, Dec. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to noon. The meal will take place at the House of Prayer Chapel located at 215 Henry Street and is part of the church’s ongoing mission to support those in need during the holiday season.

To make this event possible, the organization is seeking donations of essential items, including canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, spinach, evaporated milk, dinner rolls, butter, salad dressing, bottled water, and takeout trays.

The Grand River Historical Society Museum, in collaboration with the Chillicothe Area Arts Council, is bringing the holiday spirit to life with an interactive event titled ‘Celebrate Christmas.’ This will take place on Thursday, Dec.14 at 3 p.m. at the Bethel AME Church located at the museum’s premises at 1401 Forest Drive, Chillicothe, this festive occasion promises an afternoon filled with music, camaraderie, and seasonal cheer.

This special event will feature a holiday sing-along led by an impressive lineup of talent. Dr. James Cockman III will grace the stage on piano, joined by vocalists Mary Lou Vandeventer, Jamie Pauls, and Linda Steward, a member of the museum’s Board of Directors. Pickleball Camp Coming to the Y

The Grand River Area Family YMCA is hosting a Pickleball Camp on Jan. 3, 2025, to help kids beat the winter blues and stay active during their holiday break. Ring in 2025 with the Peppy Promenaders at Annual New Year’s Eve Square Dance

The Peppy Promenaders Square Dance Club invites the community to celebrate the end of the year at their annual New Year’s Eve Square Dance. The event, a beloved tradition spanning over 30 years, will take place at the Grand River Multi-Purpose Senior Center, located at 607 W. Business 36 in Chillicothe.

The festivities will kick off on Dec. 31, 2024, at 9 p.m. and continue into the early hours of the new year, ending at 12:30 a.m. Guests can look forward to an evening of Mainstream, Plus, and Line Dancing, led by a special trio of favorite callers: Don Boyer, Leroy Conrad, and Kenny Bailey.

Fast Lane Bowling Center Kicks Off 2025 with New Year’s Day Tournament

The Fast Lane Family Entertainment Center in Chillicothe invites bowling enthusiasts to start the new year with a bang at the 2025 New Year’s Day Bowling Tournament, presented by Father and Son Construction, LLC. This highly anticipated event promises thrilling competition, great prizes, and a festive community atmosphere.

The tournament will take place Jan. 1, 2025, starting at 2 p.m. Participants will compete in a singles 10-pin format, with five games played on a non-traditional house pattern. The entry fee is $40, which includes $15 for lineage and $25 for the prize fund. The top five bowlers will receive payouts, with handicap scores calculated at 80% of 190 (with a maximum of 30 pins).

To add to the excitement, a step ladder format will be used with a 1:4 ratio, and door prizes will be given out throughout the event.
