First-Ever All-Stater Beetsma, Superb ’24 CHS Volleyball Squad Feted

Seen pounding a “kill” shot (spike) between the hands of a would-be Savannah blocker during last month’s Class 3 district-championship match at Cameron, 2024 Chillicothe High School volleyball Lady Hornets junior Lyla Beetsma was announced Wednesday as a member of the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association’s single-tier All-State team. She is CHS’ first All-State honoree in the program’s 31-seasons history. This season, in helping the team have CHS’ best-ever season by most measuring sticks, Beetsma set both new CHS single-season and career marks for “kills” (spikes) and “digs” with her 393 putaways and 378 “digs” to buttress her All-State credentials.
