Brandon Dulin, a Lee’s Summit native who played in three games for the 2013 Chillicothe Mudcats college-level, summer baseball team before being drafted by his hometown Kansas City Royals in the 12th round of that year’s Major League Baseball draft of amateur players, was back in action in Chillicothe’s “June” Shaffer Memorial Park stadium June 29, facing this year’s Mudcats as a member of the Kansas City Monarchs adult-league team that plays in a metro-area league. Dulin signed with the Royals immediately after the draft and spent a handful of seasons in their organization before a severe injury sustained while playing with an Indiana independent pro team in 2019 ended his pro career.
