Hedrick Medical Center (HMC), in partnership with Livingston County Health Center, will be holding an Aging in Place event focused on fall prevention. The Fall Prevention Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 20, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in The Gardens at Hedrick Medical Center.
“Falls can be caused by various factors,” states Luci Skaggs, Rehabilitation Manager at Hedrick Medical Center. “These factors can include deteriorating eyesight, hearing impairment, reduced reflexes, and the impact of underlying health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or foot issues. Furthermore, certain medications can induce dizziness, lightheadedness, or drowsiness, further heightening the potential for falls.”
The event will feature various screenings and information booths, all designed to help educate attendees on potential fall risks, tips on avoiding falls, and health assessments that can determine whether medical interventions could help reduce the risk of falls.
The event is free to attend, and attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes donated by the vendors at the event. For more information about the event, contact Luci Skaggs at 660-214-8170 or Ann Burchett at 660-646-5506.
