The family of Jerry K. Greever of California, Missouri, is saddened to announce his passing on January 31, 2022, at the age of 74. He passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by love. Jerry was born February 9, 1947, to Dorothy Greever in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Jerry was united in marriage on August 14, 1965, to his loving wife, Beverly. They had three children: Dan (Ali) Greever, Ben (Carrie) Greever, and DeLayne (Scott) Allen. He leaves behind 7 beloved grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He loved being a “Papa,” and his grandkids were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Charles (Connie) Greever; sister-in-law, Penny (Pat) Brady; and brothers-in-law, Jack Lightner, Larry George, and Gary (Carla) George; as well as many much-loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death; by his mother, Dorothy; his mother and father-in-law, Warren and Mary George; his sister, Diana Lightner; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Mitchell.
Jerry was a veteran who proudly served his country from 1968-1997. He served as a tank commander in Korea and was awarded a bronze star for his service in Operation Desert Storm. During his time in service, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO. After a long, successful military career, he served his community in California, Missouri as a substitute teacher and insurance agent at Blankenship Insurance.
Upon his request, a small graveside service for family and friends will take place at a later date, yet to be determined. The family suggests memorials be contributed to Tunnels to Towers or the Wounded Warrior Project in c/o Windmill Ridge Funeral Service, PO Box 443, California, MO 65018.
