Livingston County property owners are reminded that the deadline to submit their annual assessment forms is quickly approaching. All personal property and real estate owners must return their completed forms by March 1.
With just days remaining, the county assessor’s office reports that only about half of the expected forms have been received by his office. He urges residents to complete and submit their forms as soon as possible to avoid penalties.
Failure to return the assessment forms by the deadline will result in a penalty, with fees ranging from $15 to $105 based on the property’s assessed value. Missouri state statutes leave little room for exceptions, meaning penalties cannot be waived at the discretion of the assessor’s office.
Property owners who did not receive their forms or have questions about the process are encouraged to contact the Livingston County Assessor’s office at 660-646-8000, extension 2, or visit the office on the main floor of the county courthouse.
