Second baseman Peyton Becker, in his third summer with the Chillicothe Mudcats college-level, summer baseball team, at least briefly snapped his season-long hitting slump July 15 at Carroll, Iowa. Entering what had become a critical MINK League contest with a batting average under .200, Becker – seen ripping a run-scoring single in a June home game against Sedalia – stroked a go-ahead 2-runs single in the top of the sixth inning and then, leading off the ninth, doubled and scored on John Spoto's sacrifice fly to snap a 4-4 tie and give the Mudcats a 5-4 victory that firmed up their grip on third place in the league. Becker finished the game three for four. (BUTCH SHAFFER / C-T FILE PHOTO)
