Chillicothe Area Christian Builders have started constructing the 18th area home since the organization first formed in 1998. Fourteen traveling Christian Builders have been working over the past week to jump-started this year’s project and will remain in the area through the end of this week. When the crew arrived a little over a week ago, the site was not much more than a concrete slab. However, since that time, the structure has begun to take shape. The home will be located at 1120 Springhill, and will be owned by Larry and Wendy Monteer. The Chillicothe Area Christian Builders program, formerly Chillicothe Area Habitat for Humanity, partners with individuals and families to provide housing. Potential homeowners attend an orientation meeting, complete the application process and contribute at least 250 sweat equity hours by helping build the home or helping with another home-building project. The homeowners then pay for their home through a 20-year, interest free loan. Volunteers will soon be needed to help work on the project. “Whatever level of skill you possess, we can find a job for you,” said Connie Epperson, a volunteer Christian Builders.
