According to Missouri Highway Patrol crash reports several area residents have been involved in motor vehicle accidents over the last week.
According to Patrol reports at about 1:45 p.m., on Feb. 15, Elsa Morris, 37,Chillicothe, was driving a 2014 Ford Flex southbound on I-35 two miles north of Holt when she approached stopped traffic and swerved to miss another motorist. The vehicle then traveled off of the west side of the roadway stuck an embankment.
Passengers, Michael Harbord, 40, Chillicothe and Rachel Morris, 9, Chillicothe, reported minor injuries and were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center. A third passenger, Teriseta Morris, 5, also of Chillicothe, was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
According to the report everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
The Patrol reported Kaitlyn Owen, 23, Chillicothe, was involved in a one vehicle accident on Highway U at about 11:30 a.m., on Feb. 18, 12 miles northwest of Chillicothe. Owen received minor injuries when she lost control of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee she was driving due to the snow covered roadway. The vehicle traveled off the east side of Highway U, struck and embankment and overturned one half time, coming to rest on its top.
Owen was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report and was taken to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
At about 6:30 p.m., on Feb. 20, four miles north of Winston on I-35 headed north, a Ford Fusion driven by Danny Engel, 44, Gallatin, was struck from behind by a 2011 Chevy Silverado driven by Jamie Edgar, 32, McPherson, Kan. Edgar left the scene of the accident but was later located by members of the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Engel and a passenger, Katherine Engel, 34, both reported minor injuries and were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment. According to the report everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
