Press release for March 16, 2019

2:54 a.m., An officer checked on a vehicle that was parked at Shaffer Park after hours. The subject was advised of the park’s operating hours.

8:28 a.m., An officer assisted Animal Control on a complaint in the 800 block of Woodward Street. The dogs were removed to the animal shelter.

11:07 a.m., An officer conducted a follow-up scene investigation in the 10 block of Jackson Street after a resident found additional damage to property that was not observed at time of original report.

12:04 p.m., Officers recovered stolen property in the 700 block of Webster Street. A suspect was identified and arrested, processed at the police department and released on a citation.

2:40 p.m., An officer responded to a dog complaint in the 400 block of Wise Street. The reporting subject stated that dog tried to bite them as they rode by on bicycle. An officer spoke with owner of the dog.

7:00 p.m., An officer stopped a vehicle at Clay and Washington Streets for a traffic violation and took the driver into custody for being a minor in possession of intoxicants. The subject transported to the police department, processed and released on a citation.

8:09 p.m., An officer responded to an animal complaint involving a dog being caught in a garage door in the 700 block of Dickinson Street. The owner was notified and released the dog.

8:21 p.m., An officer responded to a dog complaint in the 800 block of Woodward Street. The officer checked with the resident and were advised that the dogs were surrendered to Animal Control earlier today.

8:36 p.m., An officer spoke with subjects that were parked on business lot in the 1000 block of Graves Street. The Same subjects that were reported to have been in a domestic disturbance earlier in the week.

8:40 p.m., An officer performed a motorist assist at Washington and Waples Streets and was able to get the vehicle going again.

On March 16, the Chillicothe Police Department received 104 calls for service.

Chillicothe Police were aggressively monitoring for traffic violations on the evening of March 16 and early morning hours of the March 17, Officers issued five warnings for speeding, three for defective equipment, and one for an expired temporary license plate. One ticket was issued for defective equipment, one for failure to register a motor vehicle and one for no operators license.

7:24 a.m., Officers responded to a report of a young child that was waiting on a bus, jumping in and out of traffic. The child was contacted and advised of the dangers of their actions and advised to stop.

8:19 a.m., An officer responded to a report of a disturbance at a business in the 700 block of South Washington Street. A suspect was identified and later questioned at the police department, processed and released on a citation of peace disturbance.

11:46 a.m., An officer responded to a report of property damage involving a privacy fence being spray painted in the 1100 block of Brennan Drive. The investigation is continuing.

12:42 p.m., Officers responded to a report of juveniles fighting near the storm drain at Clay Street Park. They were brought to the police department where information was obtained and parents were contacted. The investigation is continuing.

2:02 p.m., An officer responded to a complaint of illegal parking in 400 block of Dickinson Street. However, the officer checked complaint and found no violation.

2:14 p.m., An officer picked up paperwork from business in the 1000 block of Graves Street, referencing an earlier reported incident.

2:45 p.m., An officer took a report of a subject that was yelling at the staff at Hedrick Medical Center as they were treating the subjects child for injury. The subject was calmed down and no report was made.

2:56 p.m., Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Second Street in regards to a domestic disturbance. The disturbance was found to be verbal and no arrests were made.

4:44 p.m., AN officer responded to a call of a minor traffic accident on a private parking lot in the 500 block of South Washington Street.

5:29 p.m., An officer responded to a report that a subject was consuming illegal controlled substance in a vehicle on a parking lot in the 2700 block of North Washington Street. Officers were unable to locate the subject of the reported violation.

8:59 p.m., An officer responded to a report of a possible fire in the area of Dorney Drive and Fairchild Street. Officers patrolled the area and were unable to locate a fire…..

On March 15, the Chillicothe Police Department received 76 call for service.
