Press release for April 2, 2019

7:50 a.m., An officer responded to an animal complaint in the 1400 block of Burnam Road. Owners were advised of the complaint and the ordinance.

11:18 a.m., An officer continued an investigation of possible child abuse where the perpetrator is a subject known to the victim. The suspect was interviewed and incarcerated in Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail with information to be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for filing of charges in the case.

11:50 a.m., Officers checked the well-being of subjects in the 600 block of JFKennedy after the adult of the residence had been taken into custody for another jurisdiction. Temporary placement was found for the subjects.

1:00 p.m., An officer responded to the 1200 block of Springhill Street in reference theft of some items from the yard, a clay pot and a chair were taken sometime on April 1.

1:05 p.m., An officer responded to a request for well-being check of subject in 1400 block of Calhoun Street. Subject was contacted and is okay.

1:47 p.m., An officer responded to a parking complaint of tractor-trailer on ramp at south junction causing traffic hazard. Driver was contacted and was advised to move the vehicle.

5:11 p.m., An assault was reported in the 1100 block of Waples Street. The assault is stated to have occurred while one subject was seated in a vehicle and was struck in the face with a fist. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is continuing.

6:22 p.m., Officers responded to Wheeling at the request of a Livingston County deputy that was encountering a problem with a subject that was resisting the officer. The suspect is known to the officer and they were able to avoid arrest and fled the scene on foot. A search of the area by officers failed to find the subject.

6:41 p.m., Officers reported to the Chillicothe High School property where a vehicle collision had occurred, as a result of the investigation, minor damage had occurred but it was determined that a driver was under the influence of intoxicants. The subject was transported to the police department, processed and released with citations and information to be provided to the prosecuting attorney.

9:34 p.m., , An officer responded to a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of Clay Street, which was determined to be a domestic disturbance. No injuries were observed and parties separated for the night.

10:01 p.m., An officer took a report from 1800 block of Third Street of people walking around in yard on west side of house. Officers searched the immediate area with negative results and advised residents of possible solution to the trespassing.

On April 2, the Chillicothe Police Department received 94 calls for service.
