Wright is on leave for an undisclosed amount of time.
Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright is taking an extended leave from his position, according to a press release from Mayor Theresa Kelly.
During executive session of Monday night’s Chillicothe City Council meeting, council members voted to appoint Asst. Fire Chief Eric Reeter as interim fire chief, in Wright’s absence.
The press release from Kelly reads, “The city council took the action due to the extended leave being taken by current fire Chief Darrell Wright. The council action maintains a clear line of command within the fire department and will permit the fire department to continue to act in an efficient manner during Chief Wright’s absence.”
Kelly stated she supports the council’s action.
“Chief Wright has been outstanding fire chief for the city and Eric Reeter has the experience and training to perform the duties of interim fire chief in a highly professional manner.”
Reeter said he joined the Chillicothe Fire Department as a paid-by-call firefighter in 1991; was hired full-time in 1999 and became assistant fire chief in 2009.
Reeter will serve in the capacity of interim fire chief until Wright returns.
