The MoSMART board and the Missouri Department of Public Safety has awarded the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) a one-year continuing grant to supplement salaries of LCSO deputy sheriffs.

“From July 1 through June 30, 2020 our deputy sheriffs will receive an additional $100 per month to help boost their wages. The grant total is for just over $14,000 and also covers the additional fringe benefit costs associated with the increased wage,” Sheriff Steve Cox said in a press release.

This is from a grant application from the Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplement Funds grant submitted by Sheriff Steve Cox with approval from Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas.

“There is a huge difference in law enforcement salaries just around Missouri for all law enforcement officers, dispatchers and detention or correctional officers,” Cox said. “The men and women of every agency in Missouri give you and our cities, counties and state 110 percent to keep you safe. We are hopeful that one day the huge disparity is addressed.”
