Press release for Sept. 15, 2019

12:10 a.m., Officers were dispatched to a shoplifter in the 1000 block of Graves St. Officers were advised the suspect has in possession of a handgun and took off running from the store. Officers searched the area and were assisted by Livingston County Deputy Sheriffs and K-9 Zaki. Officers later arrested the white male who had turned himself in at the police department. Officers learned the gun was not used in the commission of the crime. The male had an active arrest warrant out of DeKalb County for a traffic offense. He was processed at the police department, could not post bond and was transported to the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail.

3:01 a.m., Officers conducted follow-up on an investigation in the 1400 block of Clay St.

3:37 a.m., Officers conducted a prisoner transport.

11:00 a.m., Officers conducted follow-up on an investigation.

3:20 p.m., Officers took a report of stealing in the 1000 block of Graves St. The investigation is on-going.

3:29 p.m., Officers conducted follow-up on an investigation in the 200 block of Clay St.

3:37 p.m., Officers responded to a business alarm in the 500 block of Park Ln. False alarm.

5:24 p.m., Officers conducted follow-up on an investigation in the 200 block of Clay St.

6:17 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a possible parking violation in the 400 block of Vine St. Officers did not observe a violation.

6:56 p.m., Officers were dispatched to possible drug activity in the 300 block of E. Bridge St. The investigation is on-going.

7:03 p.m., Officers conducted follow-up on an investigation in the 200 block of Clay St.

8:00 p.m., Officers were dispatched to suspicious activity in the area of Montgomery St. and Milwaukee Ave. Officers did not discover anything suspicious.

9:00 p.m., Officers took a report of a missing/runaway juvenile at the police department. The investigation is on-going.

10:23 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a complaint of barking dogs in the 300 block of Polk St. Officers were unable to locate the dogs.

11:07 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a person failing to pay for services and trespassing at a business in the 300 block of W. Bus. 36 Hwy. The person agreed to leave the business.

12:47 a.m., Officers discovered a large quantity of narcotics on the ground after conducting a pedestrian check in the 1600 block of Bryan Street. The investigation is continuing.

1:54 a.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of St. Louis St. in reference to a subject displaying mental issues. Subject went voluntarily for medical treatment.

3:55 a.m., Report of suspicious acting subject in the 1000 block of Graves Street, walking east across lot officers were unable to locate.

4:07 a.m., Officer out at Hedrick Medical Center delivering paperwork on subject from previous call.

9:33 a.m., Officer at residence in the 100 block of E. Herriman Street reference to possible stolen items.

11:42 a.m., Suspicious subject at Graves and Business 36. Subject was checked and moved on.

2:18 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Third Street for a disturbance. Officers arrived but the individuals who were fighting had left the area. Officers were able to locate the parties involved in the altercation and a female was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The female was taken to the police department and processed. She was then transported to Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail to be held until the filing of formal charges.

4:23 p.m., Report of a semi-truck high centered and stuck on Hickory Street….vehicle was removed.

4:45 p.m., Complaint of a barking dog in the 1100 block of Hogan Street. The dog was taken inside.

5:06 p.m., Report of the theft of fishing equipment from a vehicle while parked on lot in the 1000 block of Graves Street.

5:17 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Graves Street for a stealing report. Officers arrested a male for burglary, trespassing and stealing. The male was taken to the police department and processed. He was then transported to Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

6:36 p.m., Officers took a juvenile male into custody for stealing from a business in the 1000 block of Graves Street. The subject is being referred to juvenile authorities.

7:29 p.m., Officer out to return the property to business in the 1000 block of Graves Street.

7:53 p.m., Officer transporting two subjects to Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail.

8:14 p.m., Officer out in the 200 block of Park Lane on an investigation.

8:56 p.m., Reported shoplifter in the 1000 block of Graves Street. Subject was transported to the police department, processed and released.

10:15 p.m., Officer performed a prisoner transport.

On Sept. 14, the Chillicothe Police Department received 92 calls for service.
