Vendor awards from 2019 Chautauqua
Each year during the annual Chautauqua in Simpson Park, vendor entries are judged and two awards are then passed out based on judge choices and input from the community.
Audrey Jones, Black Crow Creations of Chillicothe, won the Chillicothe Area Arts Council’s “Best in Show” award at this year’s 2019 Chautauqua.
“This was Audrey’s first year to have a booth at Chautauqua and she was overwhelmed with surprise when we presented her cash award and plaque,” Mary Lou Vandeventer, director of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council said in a press release.
Jones creates her jewelry using an acrylic pour technique. Once her creation is dried and cured, she then selects and cuts her creation to fit her selected piece of jewelry. Her “Black Crow Creations” booth displayed hundreds of pieces of crafted jewelry.
“Each of her necklaces rings and key chains are wonderfully unique and colorful,” Vandeventer commented. “Audrey delights in being creative and has always enjoyed Art. She works as a dispatcher for the Chillicothe Police Department and finds that creating her jewelry is both fun and relaxing for her after long hours at work.”
Each person attending Chautauqua has the opportunity to fill out a short three-question survey in which they list the number of their favorite Vendor booth, and the booth with the most votes wins the “People’s Choice Award”.
The 2019 People’s Choice Award” of $50 went to the booth selected by people attending Chautauqua. The award is announced Sunday at the end of Chautauqua. This year’s winner was Blue Jar Baubles from Brookfield.
