A national foundation has offered to pay for all adoption fees at the Green Hills Animal Shelter nov. 22-24. The Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals, a registered charity. based in New Canaan, Conn., will cover all adoption fees at Trenton’s Green Hills Animal Shelter this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“We are delighted to work with Green Hills Animal Shelter,” Cathy Kangas said: “It is a wonderful shelter in a rural area that needs our help.”

The shelter currently has more than 100 animals available for adoption.

“We have so many wonderful dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes, and Free the Shelters will enable us to clear out our shelter and see our animals find the loving homes they so deserve,” said Terri Webb, Green Hills Animal Shelter Board president. “We are very honored to have been chosen to participate in the Free the Shelters program.”

One of the shelter’s initiatives is Puppies for Parole with the Missouri Department of Corrections where inmates provide obedience training so that the shelter dogs will be ready for adoption. Green Hills is a Promise shelter, which means no animals are ever euthanized for space, and every animal is loved, cared for and worked with to meet their individual needs until they find their forever home, according to a press release from the Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals.

The shelter can be reached by phone at 660-359-2700 and is located at 3041 East 10th Street in Trenton. The shelter is open 12 7 p.m., on Nov. 22 and 23 and from 12-5p.m., on Nov. 24. 660-359-2700
