The second annual Journey to Christmas live event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m., on Dec. 5 at Hedrick Medical Center (HMC). Visitors are asked to enter through the main entrance of the hospital where they will be welcomed with live piano music performed by Jamie Pauls and then led out to The Gardens.
The event will feature four areas that illustrate the story of Christmas with live characters. The four areas will be spaced out in the garden area, so some walking will be necessary. Carolers, featuring various community groups, will be singing Christmas carols. This year featured performers include the Chillicothe High School choir, First Baptist Church youth choir, Grand River Harmony choir led by Kenny Crawford, Kayla and Aubrey Moss, Mary Lou VanDeventer, Mary White, and Dowell Kincaid. The entire walk around the various areas should take between 10-15 minutes to complete.
According to a press release from HMC, the hospital’s Spiritual Wellness Committee wanted to do something that demonstrated the hospital’s faith-based heritage. Part of Saint Luke’s mission is to enhance the spiritual health of the communities they serve. This annual event is a great way to start the Christmas season and see the story of Jesus Christ’s birth retold in simplicity. The community and employees are invited to come out and have a great time experiencing the story of the first Christmas.
As attendees finish the route around The Gardens, they will be welcomed by the three Magi (wise men) to warm up, visit, and enjoy refreshments.
Parking for the event will be in the main parking area in front of the hospital. Signage will be posted, and parking attendants will help guide the traffic.
