The 13th Annual Polar Plunge on Feb. 15 at Lake Viking was a splashing success, raising $10,900, according to a press release. A total of 44 people from around the area donned costumes and swimwear to take a chilly dip at Lake Viking. Their Reason for Freezin’ are the athletes of Special Olympics Missouri!
Top individual fundraisers included: Top Individual: Mike Lowe, $2,500; Top Team: Access II, $520; Top Law Enforcement: Chillicothe Correctional Center, $4,892; and Top School: Chillicothe High School $1,533.
Competition for the Golden Plunger was steep this year. Participants are encouraged to come in costume and compete for the chance to take home the “golden plunger.”

This year’s event was held in conjunction with Crossroads Correctional Center.
