Press release for March 4

4:18 a.m., Officers found an unsecured door at the High School. Building was checked and door was secured.

7:40 a.m., Officer out in the 200 block of N. Washington Street on an investigation.

8:32 a.m., Officers checking businesses in the 600 block of W. Mohawk Road for an unresponsive 911 call. Buildings checked and call deemed as unfounded.

10:25 a.m., Officer on a motorist assist near 1st and Washington streets.

10:58 a.m., Officers out at business in the 500 block of Business Highway 36 on an investigation.

12:02 p.m., Report of a City of Chillicothe pick-up being struck in the rear by another vehicle that left the scene without leaving information. The vehicle is reported to be a gold colored Buick four-door. The accident occurred at Third and Hickory streets shortly before 12 p.m. Officers would like the driver to come to the police department to provide driver and vehicle information.

12:38 p.m., Officers were out at the Chillicothe Correctional Center to attend a meeting.

1:20 p.m., Officer at the police department to perform fingerprinting detail.

1:30 p.m., Officers responded to 1000 block of Graves Street in reference to allegations of a female shoplifting. Items were recovered and after a brief investigation, officers arrested a 28-year-old female for stealing. She was cited and released pending a municipal court appearance.

2:03 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 700 block of Webster Street involving a suspected impaired individual. The subject attempted driving from the area and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, processed, cited and released.

2:26 p.m., Officer out in the 200 block of W. Business Highway 36 on an investigation.

2:50 p.m., Officers out in the 500 block of Business Highway 36 on execution of an arrest warrant from Platte County. A 46-year-old Chillicothe resident was arrested on a charge of 1st degree harassment. Subject was transported to and cleared for confinement from Hedrick Medical Center. The subject was then transferred to Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail in lieu of extradition by Platte County.

3:03 p.m., Subject in the police department to be fingerprinted reference to previous stealing incident.

6:47 p.m., Transport prisoner to Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail.

5:31 p.m., Officers received information about a subject that was contemplating self-harm and had taken an overdose of medication. the subject was located at a local lodging establishment and voluntarily submitted to Hedrick Medical Center for medical assistance.

6:40 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Garr Field Road, in reference to a juvenile/parent disturbance. Information was obtained and report will be forwarded to Juvenile Authorities.

6:50 p.m., Officers responded to a one-vehicle traffic accident where the vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet was eastbound on the off-ramp of U.S. Highway 36 at the U.S. Highway 65 Junction, traveled across U.S. 65 and went down the embankment on the south side of U.S. 36 and into the drainage ditch. Vehicle received major damage and was removed by Gabrielson Towing. The driver, Terri Gardner of Breckenridge refused medical treatment.

8:19 p.m., Officer out in 1400 block of McVey Street on a follow-up investigation.

11:44 p.m., Officers out in the 900 block of Vine Street on investigation of possible child abuse. Investigation continuing.

On March 4, the Chillicothe Police received 71 calls for service.

12:30 a.m., Officer checked on an abandoned vehicle at Danner Park.

1:10 a.m., Officer assisted Livingston County Deputy with a traffic stop at Locust and Washington streets.

3:30 a.m., Officer conducted a well-being check in the 1000 block of Locust Street at the request of an outside agency after receiving a 911 hang up call. The subject was not located.

12:24 p.m., Officer received parking complaint from a business in the 1000 block of South Washington. Officer made contact with owner of vehicle and issue was resolved.

2:17 p.m., Officer conducted a well-being check of subject in the 800 block of Business Highway 36. Subject was found to be safe.

2:26 p.m., Officer received a left the scene accident in the 700 block of South Washington Street.

3:19 p.m., Officer responded to Washington and Bryan for a report of a one vehicle non-injury accident. Officer advised driver was experiencing a medical issue and was transported to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of that medical condition.

3:42 p.m., Officer received a report of theft in the 600 block of St. Louis.

5:13 p.m., Officer received a report of illegal dumping at a business in the 1700 block of Locust Street.

5:41 p.m., Officer received animal complaint in the 400 block of Clay. Animal was captured and turned over to animal control.

6:04 p.m., Officer received a report of theft from a business in the 10 block of Second Street.

6:17 p.m., Officer responded to a business in the 1200 block of North Washington Street for a loitering issue. Several subjects were contacted and advised to leave the business property.

6:29 p.m., Officer responded to Verelle Penison School for a report of a light being turned off and on inside the school. The light in question was an exterior security light, however, the officer located an unsecured door, checked the building for intruders, and secured the building after it was deemed safe.

9:21 p.m., Officer returned property to the owner after it was recovered at a local business.
