The Board of Trustees will meet on May 3 to discuss the current situation and the plan on when and how to open the library safely again.

The Livingston County Library will remain closed until further notice due to the Coronavirus pandemic. According to a press release Library Director Candy Warren, the Board of Trustees will meet on May 3 to discuss the current situation and the plan on when and how to open the library safely again.

“Our patrons, community, and staff are our most valuable resources and all in-person services are suspended at this time. As we do our part to protect our patrons, the community, and library staff by practicing social distancing recommended by the Governor of Missouri, the President, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and our local public health offices, we will continue to make it our goal to help community members stay connected and have access to materials and Wi-Fi in some format.

“Although we are in unique and uncharted territory with the COVID-19 shutdown, our library is striving, as many other libraries across the state of Missouri, to provide services in a manner that is safest for everyone. For a great many, this means stopping all services. At this time,

there are approximately 149 libraries in the same position we are,” Warren commented. “A large number of these libraries, in efforts to support the stay at home order and social distancing, are not offering curbside pickup. The Livingston County Library is working with libraries across the state to plan how to best reopen quickly and effectively when it is safe to do so. As part of this plan, one of the stages does include curbside pickup. At that time, it will be offered.”

Library staff is adding new materials to our 24/7 online library collections. Visit www.livingstoncountylibrary.org to access thousands of electronic books, audiobooks, TV shows, movies, magazines, instructional videos, research databases and much more. Wi-Fi access is available on an extended schedule in our parking lot. Our community houses three Little Free Libraries that are available during this time. These are currently being stocked with materials for all age ranges. As these are community libraries, anyone can utilize or add materials. Please be mindful of safety guidelines when dealing with items made of paper, plastic and cardboard. Information is going out via Facebook and newsletters often. A weekly storytime is being shared every Tuesday on the library’s Facebook page. Dial-a-Story is always available and being changed weekly. The number for this service is 1-660-240-8850.

Due dates of all materials that were due to return during this time period have been extended so access to accounts will not be denied for overdue materials.
