Early this morning crews with the Chillicothe Fire Department spent nearly two hours fighting a fire near Danner Park.

According to Lt. Rob Williams, crews received a call at about 5:17 a.m., to 112 Trenton Road, near Danner Park about an unknown fire.

“Chillicothe Police arrived and arrived and advised it was a fully involved structure, believed to be vacant. Firefighters responded with Engine 1 and Ladder 1 and arrived to find the fully involved single-story wood frame structure fully engulfed,” Williams wrote in a press release. “Engine 1 and Ladder 1 connected to near-by hydrants, Ladder 1 deployed an aerial master stream and Engine 1 deployed a 2 ½ and 1 ¾ handlines in a defensive attack.”

The fire was confined to the one building. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Williams said, because there were no utilities in service.

Crews used about 15,000 gallons of water during extinguishment before leaving the scene at 7:18 a.m.
