Let Summer Begin!!!

Movie night at the Outdoor Drive-In Theatre now does that not take you back a bit! It is back and folks are loving it—Blackwater Restaurant. Kudos to Shanda Wagers, English teacher at Chillicothe Middle School, for making arrangements for the 7th graders to have Movie Night, on big screen “The Outsiders” and so much more.

Certainly has some bragging rights!! Our compliments to Zach Douglas as he has taken on the leading roll for the Braymer High School Bobcat Football Team. The new head coach is a former 3-sport athlete at Chillicothe High School, graduating in 2011 and served as a Hornets football assistant coach two years. In addition Zach, who played collegiate baseball at Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, will lead the Bobcat’s baseball team in spring 2021. Congrats to Zach’s family as well, wife, Taryn and Mom and Dad, Carol and Cecil Douglas.

Congratulations to Carla Kelly earning the Churchill Teacher of the Year Award at Chillicothe High School. Each year, members of the Senior Class vote for the Teacher who has had the biggest impact on their lives. “Thank you Carla for making a difference at CHS for the Senior Class of 2020.” Yes, that award says volumes in a Teacher’s Career and Goals with Personality and their Passion for the Students around them. So proud for you Carla and all that know Carla knows she is always a Happy Lady!!

Making a difference and certainly making her family, friends and colleagues proud---Dr. Amy Patel now holds an elected office with the American College of Radiology, or A-C-R. She is the Chair of the Young and Early Career Profession Section of the A-C-R, which includes over 6,000 young radiologists in the United States. Dr. Amy is currently Medical Director of the Women’s Imaging Center at Liberty Hospital and is also an assistant professor of radiology at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. She is the daughter of Chris and Neela Patel, Chillicothe, 2004 graduate of Chillicothe High School and was the 2019 guest speaker at the Chillicothe High School Academic Banquet.

The 5th Annual Riding for Our Veterans Battle at the Grand Bull Riding—set for Friday and Saturday, June 12 and 13 at the Litton Ag Center Arena, gates open at 5:30 p.m., mutton busting at 6:30 and main show starts at 7:30 p.m. The event will honor Veterans throughout the evening. Included in the sponsorship of this event, Orscheln Farm & Home of Chillicothe and Trenton.
