Livingston County’s total case count to 27 positive, which include 16 active cases and 11 released from isolation.

The 27th positive test for COVID-19 was announced by Livingston County Health Center on Wednesday, marking the second positive test result that day bringing Livingston County’s total case count to 27 positive, which include 16 active cases and 11 released from isolation.

According to Sherry Weldon, administrator fo the Livingston County Health Center, “Those released from isolation have met criteria according to CDC guidance and can return to normal activities. They are considered unable to spread the virus,” she said.

The health center urges the public to continue to take appropriate precautions including good hygiene, social distancing and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and a cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps.

For more information, visit the DHSS website at www.health.mo.gov/coronavirus or the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus. A statewide COVID-19 hotline also operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 877-435-8411.

The health center has also announced a change in date of the second community COVId testing. The new date is July 21 for free Curbside Community COVID-19 Testing Opportunities in July for county residents at 800 Adam Dr.

Weldon said, “The change was made due to a switch in labs to receive testing results in a timely manner.”

Testing will be conducted curbside by health center staff, while clients remain in their vehicles. A specimen will be taken from the lower nostril area, which is less invasive and uncomfortable than the nasal-pharyngeal test. A maximum of four individuals per car is requested.

The testing method used will be a PCR test that looks for the viral RNA in the nose to determine if there is an active infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. A positive PCR test means that the person has an active COVID-19 infection.

Livingston County residents 18 and older who would like to be tested should call 646-5506 to register and set up an appointment time. Those interested can also register through the Health Center Facebook Page through the post pinned to the top of the page. There is no out-of-pocket cost.

Testing will be held on the morning of July 21 in the health center parking lot at 800 Adam Dr.
