Thomas V. Brown

Longtime Trenton educator and author Thomas Virgil Brown died Saturday, December 1, 2018, in trenton of natural causes. He was 94.

Mr. Brown, (Tom), was born August 9, 1924, on his parents’ farmstead just north of Melbourne in Harrison County, the son of Thomas Armfield Brown, a state legislator, and Dora M. Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son thomas alden Brown, five sisters, including Emma Ruth Brown and Eva Jane Maxwell, and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Joe Brown, of the home; a son, Anthony J. Brown (Venus), of Maryville, Missouri; and a niece, Marsha Jane Maxwell of Marshall, Missouri.

Mr. Brown graduated from gilman high School, Gilman City, Missouri. He inlisted in the U.S. Marine corps after the United States entered World War II.  Tom and Sarah were married August 11, 1947, and celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last summer. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2p.m., Wednesday December 5, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Trenton, Missouri. The body will be cremated following the service with future inurnment at Resthave Memorial gardens of Trenton. Open visitation will begin Tuesday at Whitaker Eads Funral Home, also in Trenton.

Kelly Poling, age 57, a resident of Chillicothe,Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the united Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
