Mary Anne “Anne” Gatson Rutherford
Anne Gatson Rutherford of Valrico, Fl, passed away on December 17, 2018. She was a dedicated social worker who specialized in working with youth and adolescents. She completed her doctoral degree as a licensed clinical therapist and continued to work with children and families. She started the Navy Family Service Center in Ft. Meade, Maryland and later initiated her own private practice. Also, Anne had a fierce loyalty to her family; she would do anything for them, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was loving, funny, creative, and giving. She will be truly missed.
Anne was born in Chillicothe, Mo. She is survived by her loving family, husband of 49 years, John Rutherford; sons, Scott (Joanne) Rutherford, and Bill (Wendy) Rutherford; siblings, Cecelia (Mike) Grindel, Larry Gatson, Margaret (Mitch) Maggard, Tim (Gwen) Gatson, Theresa (Jack) Kelly, and John (Brenda) Gatson; grandchildren, Alyssa Zelko, Brett Rutherford, and Savannah Rutherford; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cheri Rutherford; brother, Tom Gatson and her parents Mary (Dorney) and Charles R. (Buck) Gatson, Chillicothe, Mo.
There was a visitation on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Riverview, Fl.
