Parade Kicks-off Holidays

The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 77th Annual Holiday Parade, themed “Peace on Earth,” on Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. in downtown Chillicothe. All businesses, organizations, clubs, and families to participate get signed up to participate in the big holiday celebration. Additional information for parade entries will be available after registration.

The parade will start at the intersection of Washington and Polk, proceed south to Third Street, turn east, head north on Locust, and end at Locust and Polk.

Christmas Craft Extravaganza Brings Local Artisans to Linneus

Get ready to shop local this holiday season at the Christmas Craft Extravaganza, a festive gathering of talented crafters from across the area. This one-day event will take place today, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Thorne Center in Linneus. It’s the perfect opportunity to find unique, handmade gifts and support small craft businesses.

Elks to Host Holiday Bazaar

The Chillicothe Elks Auxiliary is hosting a Holiday Bazaar. This is being held at Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656 at 413 Harvester Road from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be numerous local vendors on site with all sorts of unique holiday gift ideas and items for all. There will be a concession stand available as well as the chance to catch Santa off break from the North Pole for a photo session. Santa will be available at the Lodge until 2 p.m.

Bishop Hogan to Host Holiday Bazaar

Be sure to get prepared for the upcoming Holiday Bazaar hosted by Bishop Hogan Memorial School from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

There will also be soup and cinnamon rolls for lunch for $8 sponsored by the Bishop Hogan PTO. While there, be sure to purchase a raffle ticket to win a Christmas tree that is already decorated and ready to go. On hand will also be a photographer taking Christmas photos.

The event is held at Bishop Hogan Memorial School at 1114 Trenton Street in Chillicothe. If anyone is interested in being a vendor, call 660-646-0705.

Christmas Marketplace

Starting on Nov. 23, following the Christmas Parade, the Cultural Corner Christmas Marketplace will open its doors, running through Dec. 23. The marketplace will feature unique artisan gifts, including holiday decor, jewelry, repurposed furniture, fiber art, and more. Shoppers are encouraged to explore the range of handcrafted items that make for perfect holiday gifts.

Cultural Corner Invites Kids to Create Christmas Crafts Following Holiday Parade

The Cultural Corner Art Guild & Gallery will host a fun-filled Kid’s Christmas Projects, immediately following the holiday parade, starting at 1 p.m. This creative opportunity invites children of all ages to get into the holiday spirit by making festive crafts.

For just $5 per project, kids can create as many crafts as they like, bringing their unique touches to holiday decorations. The event is designed as a come-and-go format, meaning families can drop in at any time after the parade, and no RSVP is required.

Support Local Causes at Open House

Chillicothe residents are invited to attend an Open House Fundraiser today from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at 1905 Hoyt Drive. This event provides an afternoon of shopping for unique home decor, wholesale furniture, rugs, and festive Christmas crafts, all available for purchase.

Light refreshments will be served, allowing attendees to browse comfortably while supporting a good cause.

Chilli Arts Opry Presents “A Country Christmas” on Nov. 23

The Chilli Arts Opry is bringing holiday cheer to Chillicothe with its “A Country Christmas” performance at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center. The festive show begins at 3 p.m.with doors and the box office opening an hour prior.

This special afternoon performance will feature the talented Chilli Arts Opry Band, including Jamie Pauls on keyboards, Mike White on acoustic guitar and vocals, and Billy Smith on bass guitar and vocals. Joining them will be vocalists Penny Kennebeck, Laura Greer, Steve Persell, and special guests Janet VanDeventer Fraser from Louisville, Kentucky, and Mary Lou VanDeventer.

Visit Whoville @ Lillian DesMarias Library

The Lillian DesMarias Youth Library invites you to Visit Whoville @ the Lillian DesMarias Youth Library today from 1-3 p.m. Children will be able to have a picture taken with the “mean one” himself, The Grinch. There will be several photo opportunities, a craft, and snack to take home with you. Please join us to start off the Christmas season!

Festival Of Lights Opens Today

Celebrate the opening of Festival of Lights in Simpson Park at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. Everyone is invited to see their favorite displays and discover what’s new. During the ceremony, Santa will lead the countdown to the moment when the lights are lit and the many displays come to life. Simpson Park will be closed to thru-traffic from 5 – 7:30 p.m., so that those who attend may walk through and get a closer look.

The event features visits with Santa and wagon rides through the park available for $1 per person. Hot chocolate and apple cider will be served courtesy of HyVee. Kettle corn is available for purchase from Cooksey Kettle Corn, and Corporal Blues Food Truck will be on hand as well. Ed Englert DJ Service will provide Christmas music throughout the evening.
